Background
Come aboard the S.S. American and meet some of the passengers. There's Reno Sweeny, an ex-nightclub singer turned evangelist, who fancies Billy Crocker who shouldn't even be on the ship, who loves Hope Harcourt who's engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh.
Then there's Moonface Martin, public enemy number 13, who's a stowaway on the run from the FBI (complete with tommy gun in a violin case) and Erma, a gangster's moll who's supposed to be sailing with Snake Eyes Johnson, public enemy number 1, but he didn't show up.
So apart from Moonface, Erma only has a shipful of sailors for company . . . And then there's Reno's showgirls - the Angels - Hope's mother, Billy's boss (who thinks Billy is on Wall Street selling his shares), two Chinese converts . . .
Will the Captain and his crew survive the strange goings on during this voyage? Will Hope marry Evelyn? Will Reno get her man? Will Erma get hers?
All this and some truely wonderful music too.
